7/52 : Faux prétexte - False pretext

It stops being funny when it starts being you. Saddam was stopped for having imaginary weapons of mass destruction. Gaddafi remains in power and is doing everything to remain in power, even though he has billions of dollars stored away in foreign bank accounts. Why doesn’t he just leave?

Qaddafi’s Militia Storms Key Town Controlled by Rebels –

  1. Gaddafi believes he is the last true leader in the Middle East. He does see that the latest protests have been orchetrated by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Thousands of Jordanians left noon prayers to join in peaceful protests in Amman, as the opposition continued to up its demands for political reform. The Muslim Brotherhood, which organized the protest, said that 15,000 people had participated, but the police put the number at 5,000.~ NY Times

2. Gaddafi is trying not to be out done by Charlie Sheen as the “most insane man on the planet.”

3. Colonel Gaddafi, or simply, the “Colonel” as he is called by friends,is trying to bring the Libyan people into the 15th century. As a result, some fundamentalists, IE, the Muslim Brotherhood, think that this is blasphemy. They are urging a call to arms against the tyrannanic rule of gaddafi and his boys.

‘Call to arms’

Tony Birtley, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reporting from Benghazi, said that resistance to Gadaffi’s rule was strengthening.

“I think they’re coming to the realisation that the outcome is in their own hands. They did think that Gaddafi would leave peacefully, they then thought that the international community would take steps and force him out,” he said.

“I think the pendulum has swung now and they believe it is in their own hands.

“They are answering the call to arms, they are coming from all over eastern Libya, bringing their weapons, getting whatever training they can and moving on.” ~ Al Jazeera

4.  Now that he is entering his “senior” years, the Colonel  wants to get a chance to use his 15% off Seniors Day Card at the local drugstore.

5.  My top reason for Gaddafi wanting to stay in power: Where else can he wear what he wears without getting laughed at? Seriously, He looks like a cheap  Maitre d in a third rate hotel in a third world country.

5 Tips for the Middle East and Sesame Street

March 2, 2011 Leave a comment
I have been writing a lot about the Middle East lately, and haven’t offered any constructive solutions. Today, I do. Enjoy my 5 Tips for the Middle East and Sesame Street!

Description unavailable
  1. Get rid of Elmo. After all, his cuteness is too sugary and gets the heart beating faster, like a saccharine overload, that kid’s gotta go.
  2. Have Gaddafi , Ahmadinejad and all comers get into a ring and duke it out for Allah. Whoever wins, they can set up their own little world with no help, no interference and no benefiting from the West.
  3. Give the Middle East Richard Simmons. Lord knows they could all use a little more, er… flamboyancy.
  4. Give them Might Putty. Is there anything that stuff can’t fix?
  5. Close your eyes and don’t give them any attention at all. It is the same lesson for little kids. Make a lot of noise, want attention, but when they don’t get it, they go play quietly in their rooms.

What do you think readers? Can I table this at the UN? Have more to add? Post your thoughts below!

Gaddafi: Barakeh Obama is friend – Israel News, Ynetnews.

I really was going to skip a day blogging about Libya. In fact, I was going to take the entire day off from writing, checking the news, but then this popped up and I simply needed to share the latest from Gaddafi.

“Gaddafi: Barakeh Obama is friend.

Libyan leader praises US president: ‘He is of Muslim descent, his policy should be supported, as he now leans towards peace'”

I am not even going to touch the claims about Obama and ties to his Muslim heritages. Nope. No sir. Not me.

But I am reminded of this little scene from Tim Burton’s “Mars Attacks”

Yes sir, with friends like these…

Ahmadinejad: Upheaval will reach Europe, America – CTV News. ““The world is on the verge of big developments. Changes will be forthcoming and will engulf the whole world from Asia to Africa and from Europe to North America,” Ahmadinejad told a news conference Wednesday.”

Well, there you go. Not very surprising is it?The other noteworthy quote from the article is:

“Iran’s hard-line leaders have sought to claim some credit for the uprisings in Arab nations, saying it is evidence that its 1979 Islamic Revolution, which ousted the U.S.-backed shah, is being replayed.”

There is a fire sweeping the Middle East states. Does it come to burn our shores?

Doctors in Madison. Gunships in Tripoli

A nice short post at the Volokh Conspiracy this morning about the doctors that were handing out notes excusing workers from work. The writer states a fine point;  ” These doctors sacrificed a slice of the medical profession’s credibility for a political cause. Was it worth it? The fallout is mounting” The political pressure from the left is mounting. Using every tactic possible, they consider democracy a good thing, only when it goes toward their favor.

Fast track to Tripoli. People are being shot for walking in the streets as Gadhafi wants to hold onto his power, even at the cost of his own people. Is that so far removed from what is happening in Wisconsin and soon, to a town near you? People of all political stripes seem to be discontent with their lot in life. In Wisconsin, the marchers feel that they are being threatened by losing their ability for collective bargaining. The governor says too bad. He says they are costing tax payers too much money.

If you don’t believe that this will come to a town near you, from the WSJ: “The clash between Republicans and unions that caught fire in Wisconsin last week escalated Monday: Labor leaders planned to take their protests to dozens of other capitals and Democrats in a second state considered a walkout to stall bills that would limit union power.” (emphasis mine)

There is no longer a case of “majority rules” in the United States. The few, pressure the many. I would use the term “coerce”. In Wisconsin, union employees acccount for less than 15 percent of the working population, yet, they seem to be making the biggest noise. The average American (or Canadian) does not get increases in their salaries that match the cost of living increases.

Unions routinely get 2, 3, 5 and even 10% increases in their agreements. When I worked in sales for the past seven years, the only time I got “increases” would be when I worked for them by increased sales. The dinosaur model of the trade union has a different mind set, a mind set of entitlement.

I wonder when we are going to become like Tripoli. With gunships imposing martial type law because the few demand from the many.

Who is next on the Islamic Brotherhood‘s HitParade?

Of course, it is good that this mad cap should be gone. He is a nut job of the first order, but sadly, I fear that he will be replaced by another nut job, even wackier than he. Gaddafi has had his hands pooled in blood of innocent people for such a long time, I am amazed that he has remained in power for as long as he has.

Never a friend of the West, until he tried recently to usurped some of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad‘s popularity. But for Gaddafi, it failed as we knew the devil we were dealing with. With Mahmoud Ahmadinejad however, he is relatively new to the international scene and is being treated with kid gloves.

An early report by Reuters says, ”

A coalition of Libyan Muslim leaders has issued a declaration telling all Muslims it is their duty to rebel against the Libyan leadership.

“They have demonstrated total arrogant impunity and continued, and even intensified, their bloody crimes against humanity. They have thereby demonstrated total infidelity to the guidance of God and His beloved Prophet (peace be upon him),” said the group, called the Network of Free Ulema of Libya.”

Just another day at the office. Welcome to crazy town and do not change channels.

Libya revolt spreads to Tripoli – Africa – Al Jazeera English.

And so it continues to spread.

The tribes are getting restless for the caliphate. I am wondering if this is not a preparatory movement to support the coming 12th Imam that Iran has been trying to bring about?

This unrest is growing like wildfire and the West, remains mute about this radical series of events. We should be watching very carefully and closely.
