Burning Man and the new al-Qaeda
I think that the revolutionaries for the Islamic cause should consider attending this years Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert. For those not in the know, Burning Man is described by participants as an experiment in community, radical self-expression and radical self-reliance.
The festival takes it its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy which the Islamic fundamentalists would get a real bang out of and no one gets hurt! Something gets burned, some hippies chant about universal something or other and some local farm makes a killing on “bottled” water sales!
Bane from Batman could appear to urge the Islamics to join in his pursuit of finally riding the world of Bruce Wayne. They might just go for it as they (the Islamics) are prone to attack anyone Western pouring money into the peninsula.
Okay, maybe that is a little cheeky, but Burning Man calls out. It calls to the uptight. Get involved. Burning Man is not just for hippies. It is for everyone. I would invite political leaders to come, hang out for eight days in the desert. Jesus did it for 40 days and changed the world.
Am I going? I am a neo-con at heart, but I do love the freedom of spirit that these types of events can foster. Maybe I will go and preach the gospel of Jesus and how he saved me from the real ‘burning man’. The human spirit was meant to be free, not captured by bondage. Hooray for Jesus for setting the captive free!
