Nick Cave at a Grinderman performance in Mainz...

Commodore. Friday night. Grinderman, aka Nick Cave‘s new band. Amazing show. hard, driving guitars and an insane Warren Ellis made for an evening that rivals delusional states of bliss. Sweat filled bodies pounded the dance floor as the band poured it out. Howl after howl, lick after lick, Grinderman made us all sweat. Made us dance, sway to a driving rhythm and led souls closer to one another.

I have been following Nick Cave for close to 30 years and his new experiences being told through Grinderman are revelatory. His music with The Bad Seeds is more philosophical, romantic, dark. Grinderman is fast, angry and full of everything we need to let go of. And what a better venue than at the Commodore ballroom in Vancouver?

So yes dear readers, I enjoyed the show. A lot.
